Appointments
&
Preparation

  • Do I need a doctor's referral?

No, a doctor's referral is not required.

Physiotherapists act as primary care providers for injuries and can assess, diagnose, and lodge ACC claim directly to ACC on your behalf. We can even refer you for X-rays, ultrasounds and specialists as required.

  • What should I expect on my first visit?

A thorough assessment, diagnosis, treatment plan discussion, and some hands-on treatment during the session.

  • What should I wear for my appointments?

Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing suitable for movement and examination of the injury area. (e.g., bringing shorts for leg injuries; singlets for shoulder/neck injuries)

Coverage
&
Insurance

  • Is my injury covered under ACC?

Most physical injuries from accidents are covered by ACC.

(e.g., Valid: slipping on stairs, sports injuries, car crashes, sudden lifting strains. Invalid: gradual wear-and-tear, age-related conditions, illness, infections).

  • Can I use an existing ACC claim from a different clinic or provider?

Yes, as long as the claim is still valid.

(e.g., If you lodged a claim for a rolled ankle at a GP clinic, emergency room, or a different physio weeks ago, you can bring that same ACC claim number - a claim is typically only valid for physiotherapy treatment for 12 months from the date of the injury.)

  • Does ACC "fully" cover my physiotherapy treatment cost?

No, treatment is subsidized through ACC for accident-related injuries, but ACC only covers a portion of the clinic's operating costs.

Almost all private NZ clinics charge a "surcharge" (Co-payment) to bridge the gap.

  • Can I use my private health insurance?

Yes,  providers like Southern Cross, NIB, or UniMed often allow you to claim back either the full private fee or the ACC surcharge.

We use Southern Cross Easy-Claim for instant processing.
